Presenting Miss April!

Dog Fancy April 2009

Mom and I were very excited when we got the mail yesterday. We are always happy to see Dog Fancy in the mailbox, but the April 2009 issue is even more special. Mom had sent them a picture of me for a calendar contest they are having for the magazine. Well, guess who they picked to be Miss April?!?! You guessed it, it's ME!!! Between pages 24 & 25 there is a tear out calendar page sponsored by Purina and there I as as Top Dog of the month! If you want to enter the contest go to the Dog Fancy website and submit a picture. Maybe we'll see your face too!

Bill Berloni at the Herding Dog Fundraiser

This Sunday, Febuary 22, Bill Berloni is the special guest at the Herding Dog Rescue Luncheon and Chinese Auction. The luncheon is at 12:30 at the Palace of Wong in Rockville Centre. For those of you who don't know, Bill Berloni is the Broadway animal trainer. He first learned his craft as the dog trainer for the original production of Annie. He has written a very enjoyable book; Broadway Tails, about all of his Broadway training experiences-not all of them dogs either. One of the great things that Bill has done is use rescue dogs in all his performances and he makes sure they get the best homes after the show closes. In his spare time Bill volunteers for the ASPCA to help more animals in need. I was lucky enough to meet Bill and he gave me tips for my then upcoming performance in Annie at the Commack Y. For more information about the luncheon call Herding Dog Rescue at (516) 379-8341.

Happy Valentines Day!

Yesterday was Valentines Day. After my agility class mom took me over to the Petco. She let me sniff around and get some treats I picked out. I really liked the bone with the bacon and cheese in it. I saw my friend Larry and his family at the store. They were having pictures - so of course we couln't resist! Mom dressed me up as the Queen of Hearts. I also got a free bandana and the money went to Petco Charities that will help pets without a home. Hope you all had a special day too!

An old dog teaches us new tricks!

Congratulations to Stump the winner of this year's Westminster Kennel Club Best in Show! This 10 year old Sussex Spaniel wowed the judges and the crowd last night. In 2004 Stump had won his breed and group at the WKC show. After a 5 year retirement, Stump and his owners gave it one last try and completed his comeback with the big prize!
